Last week I sketched a talk by Jonathan Stein, Managing Editor of Project Syndicate, at Pracovna Work Space in Prague (hosted by The Yale Club of Prague).
Stein didn’t sugarcoat things. These are tough times for journalists and publishers. But there was never the slightest suggestion of defeat. The focus was on finding a way forward — and on why journalism still matters in a healthy democracy.
Around 30 people attended, many of them local journalists. The discussion afterward was thoughtful and solution-oriented. No one there is giving up.
This time I kept the event sketch simple: one page with a few key quotes. It’s not one of my usual in-depth visual narratives, but it captures the tone of the evening.
